Bench memorializes the invention of the BAND-AID®

September 2019

Detail of ceramic bench created by artist JoAnn Boscarino (also known as "Lucky Jo") and installed September 2019 at South 4th Avenue by the Rite-Aid Art Gallery Windows.

Hand-made tiles tell the story of the invention of the BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandage

by Johnson & Johnson employee & HP resident Earle Dickson. Almost a century ago, he created the medical aid to help his wife, Josephine, heal her cooking wounds. The bandage is now an international staple of first-aid.

Dickson was inducted in the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2017.
